Hope you are enjoying your Friday. When I went out to take care of the goats, chickens, and geese early this morning, I encountered a thick layer of ICE covering our property. By the drip, drip, drip outside my window right now, I think things are starting to melt. Yay for that!
What did you think of part one of Mystery Makery? I hope you enjoyed it because Carrie Cady Rhoades and I are planning to do another swap next month. Here is the second set of projects we made, again following the same guidelines we used for the Easter cards (part one of the swap). This time it was Carrie’s turn to send a Mystery Makery kit to me.
First, let’s take a look at Carrie’s card. She selected Spring Filled Prints Paper (double sided) as the background paper to compliment her featured stamp. The boot image was stamped onto watercolor paper with Clear Pigment Ink and embossed with clear powder. Carrie used a watercolor technique using Fun Stampers Journey Liquid Colors and her waterbrush to create a rained-on effect. Her vision certainly creates the mood of early Spring, don’t you think? You can visit Carrie Stamps to learn more about how she accomplished this look.
Below is the card I created using Carrie’s kit. To color my clear embossed boot image, I used Fun Stampers Journey Colorburst Pencils and sporadically added color, Next I came back in with a brush and baby oil to blend the color. Journey Colorburst Pencils easily transform quick coloring into beautiful works of art. Behind the boot I used Pan Pastels to create the sky. The little flower from the kit is one of our Sweet Blooms paper flowers which are white and perfect for adding color to. I sprayed it with a bit of Pineapple Smoothie Color Splash to turn it to a golden yellow hue. For added charm, I added darling bows using both Lavender Fusion Gingham and Special Day Organza Ribbon.
